About J.A.Fradley

I write stories where history breathes and small acts of courage matter. Under the Fradley Publishing imprint, my Rootborn trilogy follows a family bound to witch-trial York—where old vows, hidden power, and the weight of legacy shape every choice. Alongside those darker embers of the past, I write the gentler light of childhood in the Jamie & Benji stories—cozy adventures inspired by everyday mischief and real family moments.

A little about me
I’m married to Susan, proud dad to three sons, and happily surrounded by five grandchildren (four boys and one girl). I’m 72, a retired project manager, and these days I work part-time with my youngest son in his aluminium windows & doors factory—a hands-on change of pace I enjoy. I live in the UK, love old cities and candlelit museums, and can usually be found turning research notes into character voices over a mug of decaf.

Where to start

Historical fantasy: Begin with Book 1 — The Legacy and the Trials if you enjoy slow-burn tension, family loyalties, and a city watching from the shadows.

City at the brink: Book 3 — The Unwritten City brings factions and street-level stakes to a head.
